Best hob/oven brands

We need to buy a gas hob and oven (double) for our kitchen. We have a budget of about £700 or so ideally, as it isn't our forever house so no point in miele or neff.
Are yours both the same brand? Does it mattter/do they need to match given they're not next to one another?
What brands are good and what are unreliable?
Is silver the best option still for resale say in 3 years or so? Or is that now passe? (I'm not good at keeping up with fashions).
Are 5 ring burners 'all that' or really are 4 still fine (that's what I'm used to).
Oh and where is worth looking for shops wise for good deals?

De Dietrich ovens, you are nearly half way there in your costings, but do you like superb food?0

I'm having this hob in my new kitchen, gas on glass so pretty up to date. I found the cheapest price on the 'net then went to my local supplier and he came in just under. There is a 5 year parts and labour guarantee too. Whether you want 5 burners is personal choice. The wider hobs with 5 burners are very in vogue but it wouldn't persuade me that I needed one, I rarely use all four at once that I have now.
As for an oven, we wanted gas so there wasn't as much choice as there is with electric. You could look on reevoo.com and see what people think of different makes then check prices. You should be able to get both oven and hob for £700. Also check out Which reports at the library for reviews.0
