Try to make a move.

Hi all.
Been on this forum for a while now and think its time to make a move in our situation. My wife and I are on a DMP with cccs for over 16 month now and paying £500 every month. Out total debs are around £55.000:mad: how and why would take to long now to explain. We sold our house in 2008 and even had to pay on top to sell. We now in a rented house and all seems OK. We got save jobs and so on. I had a good look into our situation and, even we paid off nearly £6000 last year, the debs is only coming down very slowly and some are even increasing due to interest charges. I think we should make the move and go BR. We are both so scared and really don't know where to start all this. We are talking about it a lot right now and got a lot off questions. We realise we will have to pay for 3 years whatever the OR decides and are happy to do so. What about our surplus? If we got one off lets say £600 and have to pay £400 a month, are we aloud to save the rest?
Has anybody done it in Southampton yet? What is the OR like? Could I start doing those forms online now even as I don't know yet if we do go BR or not?
Sorry for being a pain but I just don't know where to start.
Thanks for your help guys, we just don't know if we should carry on paying for another 15 years or do the jump into the cold water and go BR. Is there a chance that we wouldn't be aloud to go BR?

Thanks for your help.
