Shared Ownership is a virus of house hunting websites

Its nearly impossible now to find a property on the many property websites available without having to sift through the dreggs of the Shared Ownership properties.

As a FTB i'm looking towards the bottom of the market at less than £100k so I begin at the lowest prices and work my way up. The amount of trash I have to go through before I even begin to find 100% house sales is ridiculous, and the worst part is there is no way to filter out these from the search.

An even more sinister ploy by some estate agents is to omit the shared ownership fact in the beginning paragraph or even the article completely! It's not till you read the whole article or enquire about the property directly until you find out.

Are there any good property search engines anyone can recommend where you can filter out these results?

  • And worse, I expect in a fair number of cases the agents shouldn't have taken them (SO properties) on because the sellers have to try to sell first through their Housing Association and haven't done that yet!

As a retired conveyancing solicitor I believe the information given in the post to be useful assuming any properties concerned are in England/Wales but I accept no liability for it.

There's a trade off between access to all properties for sale all over the UK from the comfort of your armchair and having to kiss a few frogs before you get to the prince.
.................:)....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)
  • Rightmove will filter out new-builds, but you are still stuck with new-builds that aren't marked as new-builds, and you still get SOs being sold second hand.

You could also try having a minimum price. Eg the cheapest 100% house in my search at the moment is about £85k, so I could put in a minimum price of £70k and cut out a few of them.
