Welcome finance and debt management program

Hey ya,
Just after a bit of advise as i think i made a mistake today.
I have just entered in to a DMP as i was sick of nearly all my income going on non priority debts (pressure from doorstep collectors), so i rang the legal aid debt advise who put me in touch with Howells.
Whilst i was on the phone with them i asked what i should do with all the payments which were due before the DMP agreement was properly put in place. I was advised to cancel DD'd, cancel my bank card and not to pay anyone who comes to the door. Fair enough, so i did all of that.
Welcome finance take weekly payments from my bank card, when they couldn't take payment from my cancelled card, they rang me and asked for another card to take payment from. I told them i have signed up to a DMP and i wouldn't be making anymore payments until Howells had been in touch with them, which didn't go down to well with the gentleman on the other end of the phone.. he got a bit arsey and asked for details like.. the name of the company, phone number and my reference number.. which i gave to him just to get him off the phone.
In future, should i give these details or just leave it until they get a letter from Howells on my behalf??
Many thanks x

How much are Howells charging you to administer your DMP? Leave them and set up a DMP with CCCS or Payplan, both of which offer this service for free.
As for giving DMP info to your creditors, yes this is fine. They are entitled to know the details of your appointed representatives. Giving them your DMP reference will probably keep them off your back.My Debt Free Diary I owe:

Hi
Please stop this. You need to organise a debt managment plan via one of the debt charities or Payplan, NOT Howells, who will take loads of your money.
See here for details http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/loans/debt-help-plan#help
What sort of debt is this anyway?
And you should be paying £1 per month to show willing and the creditors will be more amenable. If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -
Im not paying a penny, its through legal aid.
The debt is a loan taken out a few years back.0
