Hi all
Thanks for the interest in my previous post.I gave my actual kWh usage to energyhelpline from my staywarm quote for 2008.
2007 usage Gas 36879 kWh Elect'y Day 9442 kWh. Night 1334 kWh.
On these figures Southern Electric quoted a combined monthly debit of £119.00.against Staywarm fixed price of £134.00 per month.
S. E. monthly charge works out at around £171.00
Actual metered usage from 20 Dec. 2007 to 13 Jan 2009. Gas 47541 kWh
elect'y. Day 9295 kWh Night 1609 kWh.
The purpose of my post is to warn others to think carefully before switching from fixed prices to what appears to be a cheaper tariff.
I have cost myself app. £400.00.I recognise that my usage has been high, for two people in a three bed bungalow,so I will have to cut down somewhere. Thank goodness for the winter fuel allowance.

You should have posted this in your existing thread on the same topic. Saves people hunting for it.

You use so much gas you must have gas CH, so I wonder, why do you have Economy 7?0 -
When I put your 2007 figures into energyhelpline.com (Derby is in East Midlands, isn't it?), I come up with EDF offering cheapest price of £2262pa
(or £188.50 per month)
In the event you've used almost 30% more gas and marginally less electricity in 13 months.
Surely you realised if you use more it'll cost you more??? The extra gas you consumed has cost you about £400 extra.
