Flight change email - can they do that?

Hi,
We booked a flight and hotel package through expedia. We've just got an email saying they've changed the flight schedule to an earlier time on the departure. Obviously this is less good for us as we've got less time on our last day and the flight arrives earlier. Is there anything we can do about this or do we just have to accept it?

Yes they can, the airline only agrees to get you there.

usually if the change is more than twelve hours difference something can be done but if its not more than the 12hours then sorry you cant do anything about it.

There must be some valid reason for this change

This happened to me the last time I went to the US. My flights were changed three or four times before I got there, and then another three or four times before I got home.

I was unable to make the new flights, so I called up Opodo (who I booked with) and they eventually got me moved to a more suitable time. It did involve a 1,000 mlle detour on the journey home though!

My internal flight from Trinidad to Barbados in March has been changed/re-directed 3 times in the last few months.I emailed the flight company Liat,to say i would have been in danger of missing my flight home. They changed it to a more suitable time,no problem.

Yes they can change it, and if it's not acceptable they'll offer you either a refund or an alternative flight at a different time (your choice). Just ring them up and ask. It can sometimes help if you do your research first as to which alternative flights are available as the ones they choose may not be the best for you; if you do this make sure it's with the same airline (or other airlines in the same alliance group) as they won't normally switch you to a competitor's flight. For example, Air France is the same company as KLM and is in the SkyTeam alliance with Northwest, Delta, Aeroflot, etc.
