Ferry from UK to Drance

Hi

I am based in Basildon, Essex and planning a 3-night trip to Paris/ Eurodisney with my wife and 2 year old daughter from 10th April till 13th April (Easter).

Air tickets seem pricey for those days, so I am planning to drive my car(have driven in Europe a few times before).

So far, I've not come across a ferry comparison site that compares the whole of east of UK to west of France for crossing on the cheap.

I found P&O for £85 return (very pricey).

I've never used anything other than Dover-Calais, but found Dover to Boulogne for £55 with LD direct. Are these the cheapest that I could get? Are there any promotions that I should be aware of?

Also any experience with LD direct's services? Are they strict on times, which means if I miss, taking the next one is not possible?

Thanks in advance for your replies.

Have you priced with Eurostar? Easy for you being in Basildon.

Dover=Calais then a approx 3 hour drive on good roads. Dont forget tolls though, cost us (I think) 19 euros each way.

Thats how we go all the time now. So simple.

last few times i've been i've norfolkline - dover to dunkurque. takes 15 minutes longer but seems to be 70% truck drivers so no coach loads of screaming kids that are on the dover - calais routes.
been cheaper than P&0 / sea france too

Have you looked at https://www.leisuredirection.co.uk? You can get Eurostar + Disney prices or ferry plus Disney prices. I know that they offer sailings with nearly every ferry operator going. Sometimes it's just easier to price it all in!

Billtrac, Would you like me to check Eurostar to take my car or check eurostar for the whole journey without car?

Kavid, Disney's Davy Crockett Ranch is the cheapest hotel I think at Disneyworld and just the hotel alone is coming to £600.

I am thinking of booking a hotel in paris and visit disneyworld for 2 days (driving from hotel in Paris).

How much toll do you think I would have to shell out in France?

    Cheers..

google ferrysavers or ferrybookers, they will show what prices are available for the dates you need.

jaymac, I've already done that... LD direct is coming cheapest..
  • If you are specifically going for Disney the consider staying on resort or very nearby (Davy Crocketts is quite close but no shuttle so you will need car). Driving in and out of Paris is not for the faint hearted and is lost time having fun with the family on a brief visit

Personally although I like the driving option to northern france (easy for us in the South East) I would be tempted to price an all inclusive package via Eurostar from Ebbsfleet as much quicker and easier with kids

    psarinuk,

    apologies for not being clearer.

We have gone into DLP by both methods. Taking the car across and driving through from Calais is easy and means you can take/bring back more.

Getting the trains direct to DLP means limiting yourself to whatever luggage/bags you can manhandle.

We generally go from Ashford as its easy to park and get to. We havent used Ebbsfleet at all

If you decide to stay in Paris I would think about getting the train to DLP, even with all my driving experience Paris has to be seen to be believed. There must be no worse area than around the Arc de Triomphe and down the Champs Elysee(sp?)

We normally stay in a Disney Hotel, but this year as there are going to be 6 adults( well more like big kids really) and a two year old we saved over £1000 by opting for Camp Davy Crocket.
