Avg Won't Uninstall

I just checked my programmes and found AVG was still there, I thought I'd removed it the other day before getting AVIRA.
I tried to uninstall but it failed, I got the following message:

Local machine: installation failed
Installation:
Error: Action failed for file avgemc.exe: creating backup....
Error 0x80070002 %DESTINATION% = "C:\Program Files\AVG\AVG8\avgemc.exe.install_backup_1", %SOURCE% = "C:\Program Files\AVG\AVG8\avgemc.exe"

help please

    What OS are you using?

Firstly did you try to remove it from the add remove programs in the control panel?

Go to the Program Files folder and delete the AVG folder. Go back to the control panel and try and uninstall it again, it should say it can't find anything to uninstall do you want to remove entry, click yes. Run the uninstall tool again.

It won't let me delete the folder from program files,
It says I need permission to perform this action.
I am the only user on my laptop so I don't understand why I havn't got permission!

You need to be logged in as an administrator
***Make sure youve shut AVG down***

    Then uninstall
    Then run the removal tool

As above make sure AVG has been stopped, forgot to mention that, assumption is the mother of all f**kups.

I hate it when windows tells you you can do something especially deleting something you want to. Heres a program especially for that: Unlocker

USE WITH CARE. Should be alright for AVG though.

I am logged in as an administrator but still can't remove this AVG folder, It's really quite annoying as I am the only user of my laptop. The only thing I can think of is the fact that AVG was installed by my brother in law at xmas but he was using my account anyway so surely that can'tbe relevant?

In the AVG folder properties, security tab there are 4 entries in the group or usernames box:

    creator owner
    administrators
    users
    trusted installer

the creator owner is highlighted but the permissions box is blank.

sorry to ramble on but this blasted AVG folder is doing my nut in :D
How the heck can I get rid?
