Newcastle Marriot Hotel

We are going to the races at Newcastle on Saturday, thinking of booking the Marriot which I believe is close to the course. Does anyone know how far from the town centre it is?? Or even better any good places to stay that might be a bit cheaper. Have put a thread on voucher codes see if anyone has a code for Marriot but not looking good.x

The Gosforth Park Marriott is about 4 miles out of Newcastle city centre ,as you say it it very convenient for the races and there should be a number of buses into the city . A cheaper alternative would be the Falcons Nest http://www.vintageinn.co.uk/thefalconsnestgosforthpark/accommodation/
which is just across the road from Gosforth Park and the Marriott. I have not stayed at either as I'm a local .

The Marriott is very close to the racecourse, and pretty handy (by cab) for the airport, but not much good for anything else. There's nothing of note within walking distance, and you're looking at a bus or a £15 cab into town.

What sort of budget do you have? There's the usual smattering of Premiertravelinnlodges around town.
  • well it will cost us £94 for one night inc breakfast for the 2 of us to stay at the marriot and I dont think I can justify paying more than that for 1 night so that is probably around the top end of our budget

if you use a taxi firm in newcastle named blueline taxis they are really cheap probs only a ten pound I would say into Town. The Gosforth Park is a nice hotel I have stayed there

On Trip advisor it ranks at No 5 in Newcastle which is 2 above the Marriott !
