Advice need on 'Londontown.com' please!

I hope this is in the right place, apologies if it isn't! I recently went on Londontown and found a hotel which I then found cheaper on the hotels own website. Londontown’s rate was £275.00, and hotels own website price was £154.10. I booked the hotel on Londontown, and as they have their offer of ‘£100 if you find the same package cheaper anywhere else’ deal, I took a screen grab of the hotels website and filled in a claim form.
I spent ages double checking it was the same deal, and Londontown was definitely more expensive for the same room.
I filled in a claim form on Sunday. Yesterday morning, I checked the website and the price I’d booked the hotel at was still the same. I checked later in the afternoon, and the price for the exact same room (as well as the price for a twin room), had been reduced in-line with the hotels website prices.
I received an email today however, saying the following:
I have replied saying the above and am now awaiting a response, but I was wondering if anyone else had received a similar response? I know the cheaper price wasn’t available on their website because there were only two price available for that hotel – both were more expensive.

Thank you very much for your email and for letting us know about the lower rate that you had seen elsewhere. We are always excited to discover if there are lower rates out there so we can investigate and get the same rate for LondonTown.com or correct what is usually an error on the other source.
I have looked into your particular claim. Our intention, which I hope is clear and reasonable, is that we pay 100 GBP when someone else has the same 'package' at a lower price.
Unfortunatley, the rate you found on www.doylecollection.com is available on LondonTown.com and so your claim is not valid.
I will however arrange for the hotel to amend your rate to £154.10 and send you a new confirmation email as soon as possible.

It seems they find every way possible to avoid paying, so worth a read to see if anyone else has mentioned circumstances like yours.

Thanks Smiley82 - I feel like I'm being conned a bit as I know what I found is correct because it took me so to find one and to triple check it! I'll post on the other thread and hope someone can help.0
