Ceramic sink and waste disposal unit

Options
Hello

I have a 1 1/2 bowl ceramic sink and would like to fit a waste disposal unit into the 1/2 sink part but I am worried about if the ceramic would be able to take the weight of the unit and the vibration of it when it is in use.

I have asked the waste disposal unit company and what they said was along the lines of "I don't know specifically but I can't see why not" (and it was over the phone so if anything goes wrong I have no recourse) and I can't get hold of the sink manufacturer to ask them.

Does anyone know definitively whether I am right to worry or if it will be fine?

Thank you in advance

The waste disposal unit weighs less than a full bowl of water so that should not be a problem. You won't come back to find the bottom of the sink has disappeared.

When we got our waste disposal unit then there was instructions for ceramic sinks and the necessity to check the thickness to ensure the the collar can attach from above and below the hole.

My only concern would be if you have got an undermounted sink. If so then check how it is held up. Some people "glue" it to the underside of the worktop so the sink could possibly detach completely with the permanent extra weight

It is just a standard sitting-on-top-of-worktop sink so it should be ok. Brilliant thank you!
