Woo Hoo!! It's not just me then. Phew!0 -
im am the aunt of one of the disco girls and im very very proud of her. So what if she got £500 for her 11+ it was towarrds a new outfit! Im really angry at people calling them chavs! My neice works very hard for what she has achieved and if her parents decided to give her money its nobody elses concern. They saved for a very long time for that gift. Just because shes not from a middle class backround does not mean that she cant have a dream.0

I was a gymnast when i was younger but also did some disco dancing my outfits never cost much but always looked fantastic, mind you my mum was great at making them even if it did take her several months!
I'm not sure about the £500 thing, i think it may have been a better idea to put it in some form of trust fund for the child when she is older towards college or university or a car etc.........Then again most of my family and myself have all promised my brother money if he passes his GCSE's.
I did enjoy the programme and thought some of the girls were fantastic but i was shocked at the 'dance teacher' calling her niece (i think the girl was her niece?) a 'numbnut' and pulling some gormless face while grunting.....I mean that's going to do a lot for a teenagers self esteem somebody they appear to look up to calling them a numbnut, lovely!Winging life....0 -
I watched this programme with my mouth on the floor - £1000 for an outfit? I didn't even spend £400 on my wedding dress! It is brilliant that it gives these girls something to do and keep them off the streets however, who says they need to wear the tans/excessive make up/expensive outfits? Surely the parents can say no to all the demands (mind you, I wouldn't want to be saying no to the woman who was shouting at the other parents for doing no fundraising - she scared me!) However, they won't because they want to prove they can give their kids everything. The mothers were the horror story (I was embarassed watching them) of that programme not the girls.Norn Iron Club member 273:beer:0

Im from east Belfast and in my mid 20s, I grew up in the 80s when all we had to 'occupy' ourselves was a skipping rope, marbles and the local swing park. Frankly I am mortified that this is a representation of Northern Ireland, I really hope people from other parts of the UK do not think we are all like this.
Im sorry if this offends anyone, but I was offended by the programme.0 -
I think it was only screened on BBC1 Northern Ireland.Norn Iron Club member 273:beer:0
