How many viewings before you found your venue?

We've viewed 5 so far. Have 6 more over the next 10 days, and still have a few more on the 'reserve' list. (We're looking for an all in one venue to have the reception and also the wedding ceremony).
How many viewings did everyone go through before finding the right place for them?

Just the one viewing for both my day and evening venue.

I'd heard they were fantastic and they both just blew us away so we booked on the spot!

It's costing several arms and legs but it's worth it!

    Five.

One for the ceremony - it was exactly what we wanted.

Two for the reception - the first was nice but the second was much lovelier and only about 100 more expensive in total.

Two for family dinner. We originally reserved the first place, but they doubled the set menu price as soon as they heard the word "wedding" and had 1200% mark up on all their wines. We went with a place that was originally more expensive, but they've been great to us and their menu has four choices per course for 2/3 the cost of the place that wanted to cut us down to a single starter and single dessert, then just a meat and a veggie main meal option and charge us 45 per head plus drinks.

  • Just one :)

Though you would be shocked to hear how many hours I spent on the net researching and how many sets of details I was sent!

We have something very specific in mind so I knew it would be hard to find on budget but once we did it was just a case of looking at it to seal the deal :)

We booked the second place we saw. I think you know when it's the right venue - just like when you know it's the right dress!

We went to 3, the first one I liked but they had no brochures ready and couldn't give us any information on costing. (it eventually arrived 3 months after we viewed it!!)

The second one just felt right and we made a provisional booking, but I was worried I was just excited about everything so we saw a third which I hated, so went back and booked second :)

Hi I am looking at venues in March, just wondering if anyone has a checklist of things to ask / not to forget to ask when looking around? (We are looking at 6 in one weekend - eek!)
  • I looked at 4 places which were all very different. I have to say that I was sold by the wedding/events manager as I felt that I could rely on them to help our day to run smoothly. One place I went to was shocking - even though I had booked an appointment to see them, they just thrust a brochure in my hand and said 'all the info is in there, call if you have any queries'!! Go with your instincts :o
  • We looked at 4 (3 on the same day)

The one we booked was the last one we looked at but I knew as soon as I saw the pics on the internet, before any viewings, that it was "the one". So going to see the others was more of "just in case" scenario.

Looked at loads on the net, but the second one we viewed was the one we went for.
