We had a joint OD and bank account with First Direct. They refused to allow me to open an account in my name and wouldn't take OH off the account.

We are only talking about £700 OD and have sent letters this year regarding reclaiming charges totalling £500 - but they have not chased OH for payment in the last year at all. That may be due to holding because of the charges though! And Abbey are doing the same (not chasing OH for the debt).

The acc with FD only has an OD of £250 and they refuse to take me off the acc. Even said not to have an OD and we would find the £250 somewhere and they still would not take my name off.

First Direct closed my account as soon as I mentioned I was bankrupt. When I say as soon as I mentioned it, they had closed it by the time I got off the phone! So if you can't get your name off, prepare for it to be closed.

Make sure you copy your direct debits and standing orders!

It is nice to see that FD are so helpful:rolleyes: . OH has not mentioned br to them yet so will have to get another acc opened in his name with another bank and then move all dd's.

Hopefully he will be able to get a Co-op acc but not sure as he owes them money on his Co-op CC and is a month behind in payments.
