Bank Charge advicefor charges that havent came off yet

I got a letter from LLoyds saying that they are going to charge me £194 on the 2nd March for being overdrawn for a few days.
When i was overdrawn, it was only once - i mean that i didnt jump from being overdrawn to in credit and back to overdrawn.
Obviously these charges are ridiculous and i know that i will be able to get them all or most of them stopped. Ive been told that its easier to stop it from happening i.e. contacting them before the 2nd march, rather than fighting for the money after its been taken.
I have taken one of the letter templates from this site and edited it to say about the charges before they have been taken but i dont think this process would be quick enough to stop the charges coming off so am going to call them.
Does anyone have any advise on what to say to them on the phone - even better if you have said this and its worked for you! Im just looking for the right wording, rather than calling them and mucking it up!
Thank you

If this is the first time it's happened, you can ask nicely if they will refund the charges as a gesture of goodwill citing it was an oversight on your behalf. If they refuse, you'll need to read Martin's article to see what options are open to you.0
