Credit card insurance

I have just joined the "tarting club". Have just sent off to HSBC for a BT.
1) Just wondered about Card Protection. Always had it before, and it came in handy. I don't intend to spend on the card ( I gave up spending 4 yrs ago) but don't want to leave anyone with the debt if the "grim reaper" should call early. I read a lot about tarting, but not much is said about the insurance. Is it not the done thing?
2) The app forms asked me to sign to say I had read and accept the "Enclosed policy and summary". There was no policy, so I rang HSBC (Bombay) and was told that they are sent out after the forms are received back??? Is it me??? How can I read something they specifically don't send out?

1. Personally, I dont think CC insurance (I assume you mean PPI) provide good value for money. They may have proved handy for you in the past but have you considered all the other options (life insurance etc) ? If the grim reaper was to pay you a visit, the CC Ins may only cover your CC debt, what about all your other financial obligations? How will they be met?
2. Insist on having the policy sent to you before you sign. The person you spoke to is speaking rubbish, try and hunt down a UK Head Office number if the overseas call centre is proving unhelpful.0 -
