Scottish Power To British Gas?

hi folks,

hope someone can help me as i am wishing to transfer form the scottish power standard online tarrif for my electric which i have been a customer with since november 2008, i wish to move to british gas wesbaver1 tarrif. my account has always been up tp date and in credit and i pay by direct debit with no outastanding debt.

is there any minimum time period i have to stay with scottish power or is it the usual 30 days minimum period of time you must with scottish power before you can ask transfer away to another supplier?

cheers for any help,

msampson

i would wait as scottish power have still to put their prices down like the others have. im waiting and hopefully hear soon as cant see them buying a massive amount last year and paying top price. that stock must be running out by now.
  • Stick to Scottish power for some more time and hopefully they will put their price down

...but to answer the question asked, no, there is no minimum period other than the one month's notice you mention (and, of course, you can apply for a transfer on day one). On some tariffs there may be a cancellation charge (between £25 and £70 per fuel) but there are none on the standard online tariffs.

(Note that British Gas have (re)commenced paying a £70 cashback for a dual fuel switch so if you do decide to choose them make sure you switch using a cashback site and not a comparison site.)

  • If you are making the move anyway, go through a cashback site like Quidco, cashbackkings, topcashback etc as there's currently £35 cashback available for a single fuel switch (£70 for a dual)....every little helps.

  • Still, £35 in your pocket is better than £35 in the pocket of the comparison site owner.
