Chewing gum on my trousers

I sat on a small piece (of my own) chewing gum - now it's in my black trousers, and I've no idea how to get it out.
I've read that if you freeze it, and chip it off then wash, it will come out? Is this right? What temperature should I use? Can I add anything to encourage it out?

A lot of chewing gum comes off in the wash if you use biological washing powder.
I just wash the clothes on a normal cool wash then pick any remaining bits off.0 -
Would it be for the worse or better if I used a warm wash, say 40c?
I've two ways of thinking right now. 1) Use a cool wash, because people are saying to freeze the gum, but this is to scrape the gum off. 2) A warmer wash will make the gum softer, increasing the chances of the detergent getting it out.Everybody is equal; However some are more equal than others.0 -
Dry clean them. the solution they use will bring it all off without all the other messing of freezing etc0

After a cottains stains wash at 50c, with 2x Ariel tablets, Oxy, 2x tablespoons of soda and a dash of Stardrops - I finally have chewing gum free trousers! :jEverybody is equal; However some are more equal than others.0

Perhaps you will now stop leaving gum around to be sat on or walked on. It is a disgusting habit. I once walked on someone's discarded gum on a flight to Australia. I had to put up with it stuck to my sock all the way to Singapore from Heathrow.I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.0 -
Well I was at somebodys house, and was offered some cake. So, instead of leaving the chewing gum in my mouth, on my hand or on the sofa - I opted to put the piece of gum in the cake paper. I never saw it sliding on to where I plonked myself.Perhaps you will now stop leaving gum around to be sat on or walked on. It is a disgusting habit. I do agree it's horrible when it's somebody elses chewing gum. I was just too busy to get up and put in the bin, in the next room.:DEverybody is equal; However some are more equal than others.0 -
Singapore has the right idea, chewing gum is banned. Apart from nicotine flavoured stuff for would be non-smokers.
There are also large fines for trafficking the stuff.0
