Hi
My girlfriend and i have just moved in to our first place together :j . We have decided to upgrade the windows to double glazing and so far have had one quote. Im hoping to get a few more for comparison but was wondering if anyone could give me some advice on costings etc.
We have the following windows:
3 x 1175mm x 1150mm one pane full opening the other small oening
2 x 460mm x 1150mm one small opening
We would also like to have the front door replaced for a upvc unit, the door is a standard size with no extra panels etc.
So far our first quote is from Sehbac which is £1850 fitted.
Any help would be greatky received.
Alex

was this price including the door aswell?
if so this quote sounds fab to me, my mum has just moved into a 3 bed quite big though house & they have metal framed windows & have been given a rough estimate of around £17 K!!!
her house is quite big though.
get 2 more quotes just to be sure & then see how you feel & who you were most impressed by.mummy to 3 monsters!

Thanks for your fast reply, the quote does include the door so im glad its on the good side of things, shame we need to spend that much money though
(
On the up side i guess it will save us money on electric and heating.
I also didnt ask about finance and whether they do 0%, that may have an effect on the price i guess.
Sorry to hear about your mums quote, sounds like a hefty sum of money they will have to part with(

you may be on the right track it all depends on the window profile they are using we would only consider 4 out of all the window profile manufacturersif you think peoples advice is helpfull please take the time to clicking the thank you button it gives great satisfaction0

I've just quickly priced that up and for white Rehau profile (one of the best) with basic options of handles, locking mechanisms, glass, hinges, no trickle vents etc my price also came to exactly £1850 but that would obviously increase with various options.
Also, bear in mind I am a self employed installer and therefore have no overheads etc that a company has, so all in all, I would say that is a good price.
PS. FOXYMUM1977 -- Please tell your mum not to go for that price of £17k
That would have to be one hell of a 3 bedroom house for that to be a realistic price!!0 -
Thanks for the replys
Can anyone reccomend a fitter etc in the essex area? sorry for asking if this is not allowed.0 -
Hi
An update on the story, we decided to go to the show room and have a look at the doors. Saw one that we really liked and signed on the dotted line at £2000 dead after we changed a few bits and bobs.
A week later the surveyor comes round and then on Sat i get a letter enclosing a variation of contract asking for an extra £200. They say they need scaffolding to fit the windows(
The flat next to ours just had theirs done with no scaffolding and we are only first floor so the same height as any normal house.
Do you think they are trying it on?0 -
yes- i've been quoted for scaffolding when none of my neighbours needed it- its a con, although your quote sounds pretty good b4 the extras.0
