Floor Tile adhesive - Payless or Branded

Hi DIYers
I have started to lay tles on the kitchen floor using FOCUS's 'PAYLESS tile adhesive. (apparantly they are going back to the 'payless' name?)
At a tenner for a large tub its over half the price of their focus branded adhesive and cheaper still than the Unibond equivilent size.
Do you think there is much difference in the quality? Should I just use this one tub up on the edges under the work units and get the dearer one for the main walkways? (if so, FOCUS or Unibond?)
They all look much of a muchness out of the tub so any advice welcomed.
many thanks

Branded
I've just done some tiling where the floor below was uneven and required a bit of building up with adhesive. Firstly I used an un-branded tub from B&Q. It was too sloppy so consequently the tiles sank and were uneven so I took them up and redid them with Unibond without any problems.
The only benefit was that the B&Q adhesive was so poor that it came up without breaking any of the tiles and was easy to chip away :-)0 -
BAL, Ardex or Nicobond adhesives are the industry standard.
Don't buy from the sheds, but from a tile distributor. Pretty much anything sold by the sheds is frankly rubbish.
I was a tiling contractor for 10 years so tried all of them at some point or another...just stick to the above named brands and you won't go wrong.0 -
if laying onto a wooden floor, i always use unibond flexible.
most others simple jobs ill use whatever is half decent.
have to remember though, that its not worth spoiling the whole job for a just few quid.Get some gorm.0
