Late bill from EON

In June 2008 I decided to switch energy supplies so i settled my account with E-ON and switched suppliers. I gave meter readings to both new and old suppliers and thought no more of it.

Yesterday I received a bill from E-on for approx £70 which essentially covers consumption from the date I settled my last bill to the date i switched to my new supplier.

Whilst I'm not disputing the amount of the bill what I do find unreasonable is hat its taken almost 7 months for them to send me a bill. Especially when you consider that I was receiving bills in a timely fashion before and I haven't moved or made myself difficult for E-on to find.

Do i have to pay them this amount straight away? I'm of the opinion that as its taken almost seven months to bill me I should be allowed to take a reasonable amount of time to pay the amount owed with no penaltey to me.

Any advice received is grately appreciated!

I'm not sure they need to allow you any more time - I thought the idea of being given more time was when you were being backbilled for a long period, ie if you were being billed for seven months, you should have seven months to repay.

    Hi billtrouble1982,

Don't worry about paying this all in one go, a payment arrangement can be set up.

If you send me your post code and house number by Private Message I can do this for you, save you phoning up.

Tell me in the Private Message the amount of time you are thinking of and I will see what I can do. :)
