BT Final Bill - Argh

To cut a very very long story short, I got my "final bill" through from BT on 12th January, for £0.85 (yes, 85p!). It said on there "we will collect by direct debit..." so I just filed it. On 12th February I received a further final bill for the same 85p, stating it needed to be paid by 15th February (!). I'd cancelled the direct debit before the final payment came out - oops. Don't normally make such mistakes, but anyway...
I phoned the 0800 number on the back to pay it. They wouldn't let me as it was under £3.
I tried to transfer the amount from my online banking - couldn't. It was under £1.
I tried to pay it online - couldn't. It was under a pound.
Only option was to either .. drive to the post office, pay to park, and pay it in there via Intercash (for a (£2?) fee), or;
Send them a quid by online banking.
I opted to send them a pound. I really couldn't care less about the 15p they now owe me, but will this suffice? Or will it just completely blow up their billing system and result in me still being hounded?
I could ring them but the thought of talking to India and trying to explain just frightens me.

I had same issue last week, we had cancelled our BTVision , bt cancelled the DD themselves and we recieved final bill for £1.19 on Friday 13th Feb, had to be paid for Monday 16th so I rang bt.
They could not take money over phone , told me had to be £5.
Told me to go to postoffice, I said no as I could not get there before 16th and would have to pay a fee which seemed stupid.
While she was off checking with a supervisor I logged on online and was lucky enough as mine was over £1 could pay online, but would not accpet my meastro car for some reason
I ended up paying by credit card for £1.19 just to get rid of it.
all because THEY cancelled my DD before the final bill.TOTAL 44 weeks lose. 6st 9.5lb :T0 -
They've sent me (since this thread started) a 'bill' every month advising I'm 15p in credit and 'I need do nothing'. Madness. It's cost them a fortune to do this not to mention the waste of trees.Starting Debt: ~£20,000 01/01/2009. DFD: 20/11/2009 :j

Hi Leesoutheast,
Did you manage to get this sorted and receive the refund? You should not have received a final invoice with an amount of 85p as it is such a small amount. PM me your details and I'll sort it out.
I'll look forward to hearing from you soon.
Kind regards,
Robbie
