B&Q Kitchen Quote confusion

Evening all,

I'm wondering if anyone can shed a bit of light in my direction please. We've had a kitchen quote from B&Q and they've given us an itemised price list. I've just been through and added every price on the list up and it comes to £772, except that their total is £1465.25 I've checked the quantities of everything and that's all included, and added in all appliances (I've added EVERYTHING that is listed with a price)...I just can't seem to make sense of it. Has anyone else found this...is there something blindingly obvious that I'm missing?

We've got an appointment with the designer tomorrow evening and I'll ask him then if I haven't worked it out, I was just wondering if anyone else has found this?

There are often quantities on the left hand side next to the description of an item. the price on the right hand side I think might be the price each?

Thanks for your reply but I checked all the quantities and the price on the right is the price for whatever quantity (eg. 1 x door pack N is listed in one place as £12 and 2 x are listed at £24...not sure why they didn't just list 3, but it was useful to work out pricing from!).

Looks like it's a full priced quote & you'r looking at a 1/2 price pricelist!!??

Have the ALREADY discounted, without you realising it, maybe?

& don't forget to check Ikeas prices for what you want (Ikea kitchen fan, here!!)

You might be right there; sometimes the quote in your hand is a full price quote and they deduct the discounts after. In fact, my quote is a full price quote but I also have a second front sheet with the discount.

(I got your pm by the way; we very, very nearly leased an Audi A4 cab yesterday. Then didn't. I'm going to get him the 4x4 for his birthday if he hasn't done it by then! We've got six months then you have to source it for me!)

Well, the kitchen designer didn't manage to shed any light on it...just went "oh, that's strange" and is doing a different quote now anyway!! I'm just waiting to see what it's like when the new one comes.

You were supposed to say....

& I thought the B&Q price was too high & rushed down to Ikea, got it there, saved 10% & it's being delivered on Thursday!!:rotfl:

Just be prepared if B&Q are fitting your kitchen that you will wait 6 months for them to finish it and spend most of your time on the phone arguing why the bits of you kitchen are not the ones you ordered. Sorry I know this is not a forum for complaining about companies but I nearly had a break down because of B&Q and I am not ashamed to say it. Still got my quote (I never added mine up), think this is something I am going to do now.

No Ikea near here....priced it up online and it didn't come in much cheaper once we've factored in petrol and having to go back three times because they don't have everything in stock :rolleyes:

Thanks elvis, but no chance we're paying double the kitchen price for fitting!! Will be a DIY job. Looks like we've got most of the carcasses for free now from someone who was going to skip their whole kitchen :eek: so will just be looking to get doors and additional bits...B&Q quote will be very useful to know what we need and of course I'll get my trusty spreadsheets out and work out where's the cheapest.

Still waiting to hear from them about the most recent quote.

ETA: I'd be very interested to hear whether your quote adds up or not elvis!

On the odd occasion I've fitted B&Q kitchens for my customers.

I get my customers to use their designers and get their (B&Q) quote, then I save them a small fortune by fitting it instead of B&Q fitting it.

B&Q still make a few quid on the kitchen, and I save my customers money on fitting and appliances.
Every ones a winner!
