I am currently with virgin media and have been for 5 years, but i am wanting to downgrade which was never a problem in the past, but now when i want to do they are saying that i will be subject to a new 1 month contract, can they do this as i would have thought you would have the right to upgrade and downgrade as you see fit without being forced into paying for services you dont use as you will be entered into a new contract, i have the top package of talk unlimited 24, 20 mg broadband and hd box with full channels, but i dont use them all but am unwilling to downgrade for reasons above, has anyone else had these problems and are there any way round them thanks

I emailed VM recently and asked them if I'd be creating a new contract (currently out of contract) if I removed talk unlimited, i.e. downgraded my package. They said no, I wouldn't.
When they said you'd be subject to a new, 1 month contract, is that on top of the 30 day notice which, afaik, you have to give anyway, i.e. you'd have to give 60 days notice?
Maybe they're just referring to the normal 30 day notice to cancel?0 -
It's like most companies only let you make one upgrade / downgrade per month and hold you out for that month. It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!(OK my English isn't great, the sciences, maths & IT are my strong points!)0

Is this a typo then?
Like I said in my first post, I emailed them about removing talk unlimited and they confirmed that it wouldn't result in a new 12 month contract being formed. That's all I can say. I don't know if removing/reducing more than one service is treated any differently.
I suggest you call them back, speak to somebody else.0
