Lost Ipod and Headphones

My daughter has managed to lose her ipod and headphones (bose). We do not know when it went missing, she had a new phone for xmas and has pretty much been using that to play music. It was only when we were clearing out her room that we noticed it wasn't in her speakers. We have turned the house upside down and also my mothers.
If we claim on the household insurance would we be covered as we do not know when it went missing.

Possibly, they will ask you between what dates you think it was lost, you will need to report it to the police to obtain a crime number and you will also normally (Not always) need personal possession cover.
I tend to find that the best place to find things I lose is that I always find them in the last place I look...0 -
We have got cover for items away from home its the mark and spencer premium cover (I think)
I have looked everywhere, turned out all her bags, ie tae kwon doh, swimming etc. Looked in all my bags in case she has given it to me whilst we were out. Have checked through all the drawers and cupboards in her brothers rooms, even the secret hidey places that youngest likes to hide things. Checked in both the cars, kids have a habit of putting things in the pockets on the back of the seats.
I have even tidied the study desk in case it was under a pile of papers waiting to be updated with more music etc.
The other things is that it is an Ipod Video 30g which doesn't seem to exist anymore, it cost £200 and we bought it in the USA about 3 years ago.£2.00 Savers Club = £34.00 So Far

Making her replace it herself might teach her to take more care?0

Ring M&S up (After getting a crime ref) to get the claim sorted, you will probably have an excess of between £50 and £100 and your premium will go up but about 15% for a few years so make sure its worth it financially before you claim0

Assuming of course you declared the item to customs on the way back you should be fine to make a claim, but given the low value of the claim you should really consider if it is worthwhile.0

This is the annoying thing about insurance, you pay year on year but never claim for anything because you don't want your premiums to go up.
No point trying to get my daughter to pay for it, I had thought of making a claim and making her pay the difference but as she does not have any physical money in her posession (its all in her savings account) it does not have any real meaning for her to hand it over.£2.00 Savers Club = £34.00 So Far
