Brighton to London on the train - cheapest way?

I want to take my son to the Science Museum in London this week. What is the most cost effective way of buying the tickets i.e. is it worth buying a family railcard? Thanks, Desdemona

A family railcard won't be worth it unless you make more journeys.
The cheapest way - probably - as you are too late to book in advance is to get a FCC day ticket (£10 each I think might be £11 now) from Brighton Tourist Office and then one day travelcards (£5.60 for you/£1 or free for your son dependent on age) when you get there.0
