Collapsed Soak Away Drain

I have a large hole that has appeared in my garden, about 50cm deep and it looks like it spreads out underneath the soil, about 40cm x 50 cm wide at the top.
It's in line with the soak away drain from my house about 3 metres away and as we've been having a lot of water recently I think that the cause could be the drain.
The foundations of the house (Built 1951) are on sand if you go low enough, the soil in the garden is very soggy.
Is there a cheap fix that I can do to sort this, I was thinking of filling up the hole with some gravel/stones then replacing a layer of soil on top.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I had a similar problem with one of my soakaways. I topped it up with pea gravel and covered it with a piece of garden weed suppressant membrane. Then replaced the soil and turf. I have had no problems since.I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.0 -
Thanks.... did you excavate the rest of the hole to see if it went anywhere, or just start pouring the bags of gravel in?0

No, I just filled it in. All it was due to, was the fact that the original soakaway material had consolidated a bit. I knew this because I dug and filled the original with broken bricks and debris from when I built the house.I can afford anything that I want.
