Re the transport and named school on the statement. If your heart is set on this school and you feel it is right for him. Make sure you look at other schools closer/ similar etc, as if you don't you cannot come up with a reason as to why they will not be suitable for your son, as the school you have chosen. The transport would then be paid as you would have established that this is the closest suitable school.

The reason I asked about other children as mine is older and a move would have had more of an effect on her. I would suggest, trying to stay where you are until your son is established in the new school and you know he is settled, rather than uneccesary upheaval for the whole family.

    Good Luck :D

A statement needs to be sorted and that statement can mention transport and funding issues It cannot say specific schools but can mention in no uncertain terms specific needs.Work out what is needed and you as a parent who knows your ankle biters best ,need to work out exactly what attracts you to the other school and other parts to make you fellas education as wholesome as it can be. and the way it works and try to get support and assisted workers into a school that he uses.My son is autistic but his school isnt just a school for autistic children and i belive it can help having varied disabilities helping each other and working for and against. ( All my mates aren't 5ft9 fat and bald and damn good looking:cool: ) My sons best mate in school is blind and CP they need each other. Chalk and cheese:cry: . See how you can get your school to adjust to suit your sons needs with proper support.
    good luck

Did you mean it can/does? My oldest has just been statemented and I was told over the past 2 years he wouldn't get into the Autisim Resource Base. Guess what, after all the reports on his difficulties were collated and his statement agreed it was decided the ARB was the best place for him and it is the school named on his statement. OP I would wait for the outcome of the statement process before considering a move as you may get your preferred school with transport.

This is wrong: the statement HAS to mention the school. There may be a battle about which school is most appropriate, but once it is named on the statement, that's it.

  • Hi

Sorry but I dont think that you can compare someones situation to another persons, I have decided that I would rather be there for my child and have less money, he needs me now whilst he is young, I have tried to work, various different roles, but the fit is just not there for our family.

Jeepers, how do I find out more info on DWP, I presume you mean Department of work and pensions, surley this is means tested though isnt. A bit like housing benefit.

I dont want to hand the keys back, I want to do it the correct way and sell up but the mortgage company are making it hard. Surely its better to have an account still open as we would continue to pay it off, then repossess us, go to auction sell for a lot less and then never get the money off us. Strange world sometimes.

I asked that question a little while ago, and silvercar kindly answered it for me:

If you sell at a loss the lender has no way of knowing if you will ever be in a position to pay them back. Chances are you already have debt problems. A mortgage is a secured lona, so the lender had priority over other debts. Even in bankruptcy you would be allowed to pay the mortgage in full over other debts.

By allowing the sale of a property at a shortfall, the lender will have to chase for repayment, you may no longer prioritse that loan and the lender will have to devote resources to chasing repayment. Mortgages are at a much lower interest rate than other loans because the lender has security for the loan. One reason for this is that they can borrow money cheaply but another reason is that the repayments are automated and prioritised by the borrower. To reduce the loans to the status of unsecured would involve lenders in costs.

There is also to message that allowing sales without full repayments gives. If lenders allowed people to sell without repaying the loan in full, it sets dangerous precedents in the mortgage arena. Why would people prioritise their mortgage payments, if they knew they could walk away at some point.

From a lender's point of view they would much rather you took a loan elsewhere to make up the shortfall than they chase you for it.
Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. (Link permitted by forum team)
Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

apoligies if im wrong i thought that they couldnt name a school but had to name the type of school that would be most suitable for meeting the statement. Thus although not naming it does limit it down to one.(two at best within your area)
Once again sorry if im wrong off to give myself 100 lines.:o

  • Statementing Confusion.

When a child undergoes a MDA (multi-disciplinary assessment) and the panel decides they would benefit from a statement of special educational needs a Draft Statement is issued outlining childs needs and how these needs should be met. and a banding that the panel feels is appropriate to fund the extra help required. This has no named school and no transport arranged, if the parents are happy with the contents of the statement, they name the school that they wish their child to attend, (hopefully they will have already approached the school and a place is available) if there is a place this school will be named on the Final Statement as will any arrangements for transport.

    Hope this clarifies. :D
My finances are work in progress.

As several people explained they would chase you for the money. It's quite possible they would never get the money, they don't in many cases, but repossessions are not the end of that mortgage debt. It doesn't get written off when you are repossessed as you appear to think. It's not the mortgage company that is making it hard, they appear to be behaving perfectly reasonably. The hard part is your situation, where you want to move but are in negative equity with limited income. There's not going to be a cheap and easy solution to your situation and, even if there was, repossession would not be it.
