reference from landlord for mychoice homebuy

I know a lot of people have tried to discourage people from using mychoice homebuy but we are looking to go ahead when funds are available.I just wondered if anybody knew about the need for or have needed a reference from their current landlord? I am just worried about this as have had a lot of problems with my landlord receiving rent few days late due to my bank standing order. Landlord is not very reasonable and unhappy that payment is never on same day each month and am worried he wont give us a good "reference". How important is this landlords declaration?

thanks

  • Well if I were a landlord and had a choice of two tenants then I would take one who always paid on the due date in preferance to one who did not ...

  • your welcome!! i had a problem with my previous tennancy's standing order - it went out on the 1st but wouldnt pay out on a weekend or bank holiday, the amount of times i used to get angry phone calls was soooo annoying! but they insisted in a standing order straight to their bank account....i just cant wait to move!

    Just wondered:
We are now living with a family member so I would they would treat my family member as the "landlord"? We do pay rent. Also they are worried about what they will have to do i.e write a reference/sign a declaration? And will this affect their credit record etc. any info would be much appreciated. thanks
