Help with slow cooker meal please

I have a beef pot roast in the slow cooker. I have browned the meat and put in carrots (par boiled), onions, bay leaves, black pepper and some stock. What I want to know is can I put potatoes in as well? Will they cook ok? The instructions on my slow cooker say root vegetables may take longer to cook and I'm not sure if potatoes are a root vegetable. I've got a large whipping cream on its use by date, could I add this too?
I've dug the slow cooker out of the back of the cupboard and I'm not sure about using it so sorry for all the questions. Can someone tell me how to make this into a delicious meal, please.

yes you can add the potatoes but make sure they are cut up well.
As for the whipped cream i would not add it as it might split.
I dont par boil veg before adding them and they are always fine.0 -
Thanks Funky Fairy, I only par boiled the carrots because the instructions said root veg might need longer to cook and when I read Mr Badexamples thread he said the carrots werent quite done. I have a lot to learn.0

I usually do parboil root veggies too. It works well for me
I'll add this question to our main Slow Cooker Recipes thread in a little while.

I would use double cream in the slow cooker and in any cooking as it is less likely to split.0
