My better half is twisting my arm & wants a weekend in London.
(Scarborough sea-front is not what it used to be!)
Anyone got any links for cheap hotels or tickets for shows?
Cheers

Travel Lodge have hotels in Covent Garden and Holborn - depending when you go you can get a room for as little as £26 a night. Just look on their website for infoThe world is over 4 billion years old and yet you somehow managed to exist at the same time as David Bowie0

re shows/ things to do:
National Rail has 2 for 1 promotions...quite a few choices of shows there...
http://www.daysoutguide.co.uk/
If you have an Oyster card, some promotions...

If you want to know where the good seats in most West End London theater. It's super super in detailling the prices for each seat (unlike the poor guide provided by ticketmaster)...

I went to watch Les Miserables on Tuesday night. Being on a budget, I asked for £17.50 tickets which meant the last two rows on Upper Circle (you cant get any further back than that and it is one of the worst seats).
However, I was given seats in the Dress Circle and although it was at the corner, these were some of the best seats (£47.50 - most expensive range). The reason I was told was because they closed the Upper Circle for the night.
I'm not sure whether the Upper Circle is still closed but if you're willing to risk it, you could try asking for cheap seats and hoping to get some of the better ones...I suspect they may open Upper Circle depending on demand...
Else, if you're willing to pay full price, go to Theatre Monkey above and see where are the best seats to purchase (normally highlighted in green)...
With great tunes, themes, performances, etc & running time of about 3 hours, Les Miserables should not be missed...0 -
We stayed in a Jury's Inn in Islington a couple weeks ago, which was £39 a night at the weekend. Very nice hotel, pretty new and a pretty good location. We booked through laterooms, but I also saw that rate on either lastminute or expedia (can't remember which).0

Hi
Ive booked at Travelodge Kew for 3 nights over May Bank Holiday (Whitsun).
Unfortunately due to a wedding we can no longer go, and the room is non-cancellable
You can have all three nights for £75 if interested.0 -
If in London don't buy cheap. What you gain on the price you lose in travel time.
https://www.londontown.com is the place to book a hotel. Get the right weekend and you can stay at a 5* hotel for £99 per night PER ROOM.
Holiday Inn Mayfair (opp' The Ritz) doing a good deal for central London at the moment.
Try https://www.rathbonehotel.co.uk good niche hotel in the Fitzrovia area of Mayfair near the Michelin Star restaurants.
I would treat Travelodge Covent Garden as a hotel of last resort. Very central but mmmmm!!!!!!!!! for the money.
Chesterfield Hotel, Charles Street, Mayfair but try phoning them to get a good deal. The restaurant carves the meat at your table, serves the soup from the pan to the bowl at your table. Bottles of wine are decanted for you rather than left in the bottle and the meal price is reasonable. If room too pricey eat here for a treat.
Don't take the hotel breakfast eat at Fortnum & Mason's Fountain Restaurant for breakfast. Same price as hotel breakfast but far better and in good company of famous people.0 -
If you're prepared to go up to £100 then the Tower Thistle is a good bet.
It's an excellent location (right next to Tower Bridge) and a good hotel albeit in that rather souless business hotel way.

If you're feeling a bit flash, The Savoy does one of the best (the best?) Sunday lunches in London in The Grill for £25 per head plus booze. The food, service and dining room are all fantastic just go easy on the wine list. Good wine but it's easy to go a bit mad and regret it the following day at work!0 -
I'd like to speak up for the travelodges! For goodness sake! We have just come back from the travelodge covent garden. £10 for a family room which we used to accommodate three of us - so £3.30 each. It was pristine and the staff were very efficient. It is also VERY centrally located. The room came complete with 10 sachets of tea and coffee so even if you check in for the hot drinks alone you are getting great value for money. Surely for £10 for a night for a family of up to four people it is unbeatable value.0
