Orange debt what do I do?

Help!
I have 2 orange accounts both in my name (stupidly took one out for partner) and we have since spilt. One of the accounts have went to a debt collector it is about £500 in arrears. I am a single parent and only work part time but they have threatened to start legal action. Can only afford to pay about £15 per month. What should I do? Only received the letter last week so can they commence legal action so soon? Any help and advice appreciated
