Here's a lovely country pub half way between Abergavenny and Crickhowel. There is a horse riding centre about 100 yards away from it with real horses and everything. I will see if i can find out the details of the horse place.

try llangorse roping centre, they also offer pony trekking.

we stayed at the lansdown hotel , in Brecon and had a great night in Brecon after our day of pony trekking and roping ! parked in the car park opposite no probs again. Very cheap b&b with a restuarant, excellent breakie in the morning. We had an evening meal in the puzzle tree again great night, we were in a party of 16 and had no problems at all, if you need tel numbers let me know.
I know the area very well, so could advise what pubs (if required) to avoid !!!!!!!0 -

Have you thought about a youth hostel. There are a few within a stones throw ofth park. Llandeusant with a good pub at Pont Aber nearby?
Plus all the National Museums in Wales are FREE.0 -

Youth hostel.... will it be suitable for children? Free museum sounds good.. will have to look for them..
