I have about 8internal doors that I would like to replace along with the architrave, what is the best way to go about this, windows company don't seem to do internal doors.
Also need some plastering, as the job is not huge, not sure who to engage, any advice most appreciated.

Find a local joiner who will do all the doors etc. for you, usually he/she can supply them too as they'll get a discount with local suppliers. A joiner will charge anywhere between £20 - £80 per door. In the past I've been charged about £35/door which included hinges.
As for the plastering there'll be loads of plasterers in your local phone book/paper.
Best bet is to ask friends/family if they can recomend anyone.0 -
I've got a question about changing an internal door which is not a standard size
Been to B&Q and Wickes, we will need to shave off 5cm off the width of a 'off-the-shelf' standard door but advise is this cannot be done (max of 0.5cm) although no one can say why! So why can't we shave off more than 0.5cm from the shop bought door?
So we will need a custom made door, any idea how much the door should cost?
Many thanks0 -
go to your local timber merchants
Most can get old imperial sizes/new metric with plenty of choice
I always use finewood internal doors and have never had a problem in not being able to get the correct sizeHi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure0 -
Just to say, the reason that you can't trim much off B&Q doors is becasue they are hollow!
A local timber merchant is a good idea, alternatively there are lots of door websites. - I know www.thedoorworld - do made to measure pre-finished doors and also have a good selection of outsize/traditional size pine and hardwood doors. They deliver throughout the UK.0 -
B&Q do do some solid doors, have a look for a fire door. I had a 6 panel woodgrain one that costs about £14 normally but as a solid fire door cost about £60 and would allow you to cut what you want off the edges. If you can lift the door easily then it isnt solid !!!0
