I put this in motoring but you guys may be able to help too
Hi all
I recieved a letter from my car finance company this morning about a transfer of registration plate on my car however we havent changed plates and on the letter the original plate is not ours if was suppose to be ours but arnold clark couldnt get the car from another garage so we got another one.
ours is xxxx ubz the one on the letter is xxxx uav how does this work? Does this mean technically I dont owe any money on my car and that I owe it on another car? Would I be able to now hand this car back to Arnold Clark?
Please advise as this letter may be a blessing in disguise.

Isn't the knowledge that comes from experience more valuable than the knowledge that doesn't?

Sounds like a simple clerical error to me. Write to the CS manager of the finance company and explain what you've explained here, and ask them to update their records. I don't think you can use this as a reason to stop paying for your car.My Debt Free Diary I owe:
July 16 £19700 Nov 16 £18002
Aug 16 £19519 Dec 16 £17708
Sep 16 £18780 Jan 17 £17082
Oct 16 £178730 -
I guess technically if you have an agreement that says you owe us £x for a car registration number **** and you have never taken possession of that vehicle then you could argue you don't owe the money.
However i am inclined to agree with MyLastFiver that this is a clerical error and if you don't owe the money on one car then it could be argued that you shouldn't have the other either!!!
I would write and ask for clarification etc from the company.
