Payment Protection Insurance Contractor

My husband is an IT contractor. He is the sole director of his own limited company and receives fixed term contracts between his Ltd company and the consultancy he works for. He has been working at this consultancy for approx 2.75 years (each contract that he has received has been of a 6 month duration). He currently has just over 3 months so run on his existing contract, but will hopefully be renewed.
My question is are there any payment protection/unemployment protection insurance policies that cover IT contractors? (in the current economic climate we would like to try and protect ourselves in case he does not get renewed or if he does get renewed and then his contract terminated at a later date)
Every policy that I look at seems to either exclude fixed term contract workers or they include them, but then state if they are self employed or work for a close company the company has to have ceased trading (presumably this would mean that the policy would not pay out unless his ltd. company was wound up).
Are there any IT contractors out there that have managed to find a suitable policy? Thanks in advance.

I would recommend you speak to an Independant Financial Adviser preferably one that specialises in protection insurance, alternatively if their are any trade organisations for IT Contractors they often have insurance schemes for them or at the least can probably give you good advice0
