Wrong. Home mortgage based on PAYE income; BTL mortgage based on rental income.:p

Agreed...sort off.
I consider them they are all crimes, but that we probably don't need the protection of society element of a custodial sentence for mortgage fraud and that really, if the prisons are stuffed to the rafters than you echo my sentiment entirely. In fact, in all cases of fraud there is a strong answer for the punitive measures to be financial and of a duration relevant to the crime IMO.0 -

By wrecking the world's economy, I've seen it estimated that 5 million people are going to starve. If that is not murder by fraud I don't know what is.

I think you should be looking at the mortgage salesmen from the US who sold sub-prime mortgages to NINJA's at rates of 1% that reset at around 10%, for the commission and knowing they would not be able to repay  This was where the damage was done not in the UK.'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is. Blaming one person guilty of mortgage fraud for wrecking the world economy is like hanging a kid for stepping on a mass murderer's big toe.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards.
