Hi guys just wondering a=if anyone could estimate the cost of a gas fire being fit? I haven't had this done before so unsure what kind of cost we'll be looking at?

We recently had a few quotes and they were talking around £200-400 to fit the fire which included modifying to hole to suit.

I did the prep work for installing a fire (resizing hole and running in new length of copper pipe), and then the gas man charged £70 to complete the installation, connect up and test.

I recently had an inset gas fire fitted & the cost was £150, which is in London suburb.
The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.

I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.

    Hi cattie,

I'm mulling over theoptions - but definitely want an inset firs -whether gas or solidfuel not sure...

What did you get? Are you please with it?
  • Hi, i don't have a cost i'm afraid but just a tip!...on 1 April Corgi will be no more. Gas Safe Register is replacing them so make sure you use a Gas Safe registered engineer from April 1. Good luck!
  • Just to make things more confusing,So now as an electrician will the public stop asking me if we are Corgi Registered?
