grrr I need a rant!!

Apologies in advance if I offend anyone, its really not my intention, just need to have a rant and if I say it to hubby it will cause a major row!!!

My sister in law & her other half were made BR in December, in that time they have managed to build up £500 of savings (in cash under the mattress), booked them selves a holiday for June and both got new shoes!!!
Today was the last straw!!!! She rang to tell us what a fabulous valentines day they had, smoked salmon & scrambled eggs for breakie, cards and pressies then.......had a slap up meal where they paid £17 EACH for a bleeding steak!!!!!! Meal in total was nearly £150 plus a taxi there and back.

Me and Hubby on the other hand had a rabbit curry (was very tasty though), didn't do cards or pressies, its my bday next week and i wont even be getting a card, plus only have £6 to last till payday (a week & half) so having to go cap in hand to PILs for petrol money!!!!!!!

Just makes me wonder why we are struggling to keep our heads above water and pay what we owe... I am sure life if you are BR is no bed of roses just can't understand why they have all this extra money!!! Surely you can't fudge your SOA that much!!!

Woah long rant - off my chest now, again sorry if I offend anyone, I really don't want to :)

Off to have dry toast and water for tea now ;)

Maybe they won a minor lotto prize and preferred to spend it than hand it back?

    hi messymum

i know the feeling, however you are doing the right thing for you and that means you can sleep at night!

    hang in there
  • At the end of the day MM you know you have done your best to keep your head above water and manage the best you can.

I don't know where they have the money from - maybe as VfM says they've won a little on the lotto, who knows,- but they won't have much for long if they continue to spend like that.

Its a shame that others who ar BR have nothing left at all.

Don't think this makes sense, but I know what I'm trying to say!!!

  • thanks ald65, i feel much better now i have it off my chest, couldn't say anything to hubby as he is v sensitive about his family.

I'm sure its not a lotto win as they specifically said they had saved the money since being BR :)
  • it makes me mad as they are bragging to others about it, even has about her wonderful meal on her social page (not sure if i'm aloud to use the site name so wont). It must make others think that going BR is the easy option which i am 100% sure its not!!!
  • It's always nice to have a rant but now you've got it off your chest, try to forget about it. At least your conscience is clear.

This sounds seriously dodgy, I would assume this money is cash in hand and income tax has been avoided?

Don't get mad, it is far better to live honestly and within your means.

  • Hi MM
I sympathise with you, my BIL & SIL have just gone bankrupt for the 2nd & 3rd time respectively, they are still living the high life, a holiday in NY, new clothes & kids still get everything they ask for.
