Hi
Looking for sole trader Public liability insurance cover for myself as a window cleaner.......anyone got some expeience in this field?
Quotes i am getting are around £100 ish but when you drill down it seems there are more exclusions than inclusions!!!?? So it is hard to determine where the best value is......and to be honest i dont have any faith in them
anyway ..in terms of claim settling!!

You could ask More Than Business - I got my public liability insurance through them and I pay £10.94 a month without penalty for paying that way.0

The policies that are quoting you around £100 have a big exclusion in them not most companies ommit to tell you when you are a window cleaner. They normally exclude the window you are cleaning. This in effect means if you scratch it while your clean it or lean to hard on it they will not pay the claim. They would cover you though if say you moved your ladder and it dropped onto another window that you were not working on.
There are policies with companies such as camberford law that do not have this restriction on but are likely to cost you upwards of £400. When working out if its worth paying the extra to have the cover please bear in mind that the policies that do not have the restriction often have an excess (The amount you pay towards the claim) of between £250 and £500 so take this into account as if your dealing with windows valued at £400 it might be worth taking out the cheaper policy and paying for any damage you cause to the window you are working on yourself.
I hope this helps0
