Honeymoon Destination Aug 09

Looking for any recommendations for a honeymoon destination for my partner and I.
  • 10th Aug - 15th Aug
  • 2 Adults
  • Fly from Glasgow or Edinburgh
We have never been abroad together and am unsure of where to go!

So far we have thought about Paris or Rome. We are trying to do this for as little as possible maybe having the first night in a 4/5* hotel and the other nights in a lesser rated hotel. No idea if a package is best or to book everything seperate.

Can anyone advise a reasonable country to go that has:
  • Ok shopping
  • Good public transport
  • Speaks English!
Thanks.

Paris and Rome may be romantic but nothing will put the breaks on romance faster than an empty wallet.

I think Las Vegas is ideal for a 5-night break, long enough to have non-stop fun, short enough to escape from before it breaks the bank.

Drawbacks: not sure whether there are direct flights from Scotland to MacCarran, and the pound doesn't buy you as much as it did in the states but you can certainly get some bargain breaks.

Have a lovely time wherever you go.

The last time I was in Paris and Rome the native languages were French and Italian respectively ;)

Aer Lingus Return from Glasgow to Dublin = £39.99 per person. Masses of romantic things to do (including a tour of the Guiness Factory:D ). Cant recommend hotels but am sure someone else can as I have only done family or very very unromantic budget accommodation. As a bonus on Paris, the people are a lot friendlier in Dublin. (Just avoid all the stagnight venues - Temple Bar area).

Ryanair fly to Dublin for 2p - £10 in their "sales" from many UK destinations :D
