Have A Really Horrible Job And Feel Trapped

  • I don't think resigning without a better/more interesting/better paid job is a good idea especially at the moment. It can be very depressing to be out of work, best to follow some of the advice above, and plan sensibly for the future. Making a plan and setting objectives helps.

whitewing has offered some the most constructive, positive advice that I've seen on this forum.

It is horrible when you don't enjoy your job. However, in the current market it is easy to find something else. Being prepared to look though, by doing your CV, is a good start.

I also agree that you need to try and look at things more positively. It's very hard when you hate something. I am always of the opinion that if something is making you genuinely depressed then get out; your mental health is more important. However, you do have responsibilities (which is possibly making you feel even more trapped)

So the only option is to try and find something else. Being shy makes this harder, but you can get help. Understanding and experienced Recruitment Consultants can help you with that. I own a Recruitment business and have worked with plenty of shy, nervous candidates. Not every company wants to employ the most confident person, so focus on what your qualities are and not what you think you lack.

If you want someone to look over your CV I'd be happy to do so.
