surrendering life insurance policy

Help! I need to raise some money from a life insurance policy which is due to mature in 3 years time.
The company has told me that the policy is currently worth about £600 but when I phoned a company to see if they would buy the policy they said they would not buy a policy worth less than £1,000.
I also tried to take out a loan based on the policy but another company said they do not do this anymore.
Has anyone any advice on this or experienced anything similar?

"Another company" said they don't do policy loans any more?
Have you asked the life company themselves?
We had a policy loan on our Standard Life policy a while back at a very reasonable rate.0
