I heard it on this Forum but can't remember which company it concerned. As I work for BG, as Swanjon has advised, the price of BG key meters are the same as quarterly billing meters paying cash not DD. The Gas PP meters are currently £34 per year higher than a quarterly Credit meter. The aim is to get this down to the same status as Electric.

Prepayment meters/customers cost a lot of money for companies. Every time they top up it costs or when people need call outs to put credit on their meters and when meters go faulty (this happens a lot more with PP meters than Credit). This means the companies have to find ways to economise before they can bring prices in line for PP customers.

I believe the aim for all companies will be to meet this target.

I really need to do what??
As stated in my op I use direct debit personally.

I merely wish to clear up whether a person using a key meter will pay more just for the privilege of using a key meter with British Gas or any other companies. It was stated to me that another company apart from British Gas are also stopping charging extra for key meters. Anyone know who that could be? I believe it was someone called Joyful who works for an energy company who mentioned these facts on another thread as previously mentioned above.

Sorry I meant you in the general sense - vous not tu if you (oh gnh!) get what I mean.
