Since 13 Feb, Ive had problems with my hotmail account when using Firefox - unable to open mails and get a yellow band message saying Refresh browser. Its very irritating. Just managed to open mails by swopping over to IE. Anyone know why this is happening please

Can't help specifically, but couldn't open Hotmail e-mails on 13th using Firefox. I didn't spot any message. However, didn't think of trying IE.
Seems to working for me with firefox though.
Edit to add - yes same with me now although it was o. k. this morning. Yes same yellow band and message. Works fine using IE! So it would be interesting to hear what the problem might be.
Further edit - clicked on "reload current page" (blue circular arrow) then inbox and it worked. Why that's necessary, I've no idea?0 -
I keep getting this too, although when I reload and then try to get into other folders it does the same thing! ARGH!!!!!!"Beautiful young people are accidents of nature, But beautiful old people are works of art."

It's a known problem, started on Friday the 13th
Affects firefox mainly, but also occasionally opera and ie7.
The hotmail (windows live mail) team are investigating, but no solution as yet. Rebooting or clearing your cookies and history works temporarily but the problems still comes back eventually.
This is the last update from the support team:
Check here for further updatesHi everyone. Thanks for all the info you've provided. It appears that most of you are having this issue in Mozilla Firefox but some people here also mentioned that it's also happening on other browsers that are not Internet Explorer.
We're now currently looking into it. Please stand by for the update. I can't provide you with the exact issue right now but we're definitely investigating this matter. For now, please use Internet Explorer to access your accounts.
Thank you for your patience.

Figures as Ive been having probs with firefox for about the same time - not responding and not connecting to websites. How annoying. Ive just paid out for zone alarms force field because I got worried about hackers when I got that message - still, guess its worth while anyway (I already have the complete Zone alarm suite with av and firewall etc.)0

I had the problem for the last couple of days. I tried to log on today and I got a message:
"We're doing some maintenance to improve the service. We apologize for getting in your way. Please try again in a few minutes. If it's been more than an hour, tell us you're still waiting."
Its been over an hour, but if I click on their link it just returns me to the msn.com webpage, and on one of the side panels it says "The Hotmail service is temporarily unavailable" Its quite infuriating!
Is anyone else still having problems?0 -
Seems to have sorted itself today?0
