parcel advice required?

hi,
i have some items i sold on ebay and they are packaged into 2 parcels to the same address.

each parcel weighs 15kg according to my bathroom scales, lol.

now to send one of these 15kg parcels is £10.45 (£20.90 total), now if i parcel tape the two parcels together and send as one 30kg parcel to save on costs would i get away with it?

i mean the big parcel may weight VERY slightly over the 30kg limit.

do you think i would get away with it or are delivery firms strict and even if it is just over 30kg?

there is a overweight charge of £20 if the weight rule is broken, shall i risk it?
cheers guys.

No, the 30kg rule is there for the benefit of the drivers and handling staff. It's not just an arbitrary thing and could cause delays to everything on the van. Some couriers will let you send a consignment of two parcels to the same address for less than two separate addresses.
    Can I help?

Yes, stick them together and if you can take them to staples yourself. They take parcels up to 31.5kg and do next day delivery via dhl. Now the cost is the best bit, even better than not having to wait for the courier to come and collect it, £8!

Last time I used DHL they should have delivered before 12.00 noon. They turned up at 4.57pm

  • Hello everyone. I bought a brand new 19" LCD from ebay for £165, it was delivered the next day, I'm really over the moon, I am using it right now as we speak.

There are many more available to buy and my mate wants one as well, but the postage charge is £20 by special delivery and my mate cannot afford that, also the distance is around 120miles from us so cannot collect (although the seller does prefer that) , is there any other way to receive it, eg courier collect service or something, any other cheaper method.

    Any help is appreciated
    Regards

It doesn't really matter f there are other methods of receiving the item, it is up to the seller to choose what they consider a safe and reasonable method for their items.

If he is worried by the £20 postal charge then buy from a shop, there are several deals around at the same sort of price, but don't try to dictate terms to a seller.

  • Why not wait and save up the £20...
people don't do that sort of thing these days though :-(
  • Thanks for your reply guys,

I stated the courier collect service because someone mentioned that initial city link can collect the parcel from the seller for around £10.00 and deliver it to the buyer, ofcourse the seller would be paid the end price prior to collection (eg£145.00), is this true or someone just making it up. I thought city link were for business users only. The seller has replied to my mate and accepts this,, as long as the end price is paid either by paypal, or bank transfer etc.
