I've just tried Momox, they're offering 73p for a 2011 published hardback, cost £20. Didn't want to sell it just interested in what they would offer.

I just tried putting a biology textbook which cost me £17 and a Dan brown hard back book which cost me £15 into momox, Fatbrains and We buy books, none of them wanted the text book and only Momox had the Dan brown book on their system and offered 9P for it!! Think I will give ebay and Amazon a go!
    Next- £486.25 Barclaycard £600
    October make £10 a day - £183.90/155 :j

I second the opinion of a book fest stall at a flea market first especially if you have a busy local one. Now is the time people are likely to buy books for the holidays etc. you may not get rid of all of them but whatever you sell it saves on postage/packing and messing around.

Check out if you have any hidden treasures first though. Perhpas you could also sell a bit of other house clearance items at the same time.

I've sold to both webuybooks and zapper - I could probably have got a bit more overall on ebay or amazon, but couldn't be bothered with all the hassle. Webuybooks are very quick to pay out, zapper takes a few weeks by comparison but they do pay out. Whenever I've got some old books I put them in to both sites then split them in to piles according to which one is most profitable for that particular item.

Both sites do have a minimum amount for sales though so sometimes it can take a while to get enough books together that they want. I've currently got 2 piles sitting by the fire place waiting to be boxed and sent out - one to each company. I'll get about £26 overall which is far less than all the items original costs but none of them are rare books and to be honest I need the space as I have a bit of a book buying addiction!

I have also sold a handful of books at carboot sales, but I haven't done one of them in a couple of years.

Books that I can't sell/aren't worth selling online I take into town - there's a second hand book shop that doesn't buy books, but they work on a token system so if I give them books, they work out how much they could sell them for then give me a token that I can use to get money off other books from them. The only books they don't take (and I don't know the reason for it) is hardback fiction - I give those to a charity shop, usually the one that sells 10 books for £1 as I'm always buying shed loads of books from them and feel I should give something back so they don't run out!

    any reviews please

    thanks
Hi just to let you know I did use Momox and got a good price for 6 books sent to them free and paid within 5 days no probs so would use again.
  • Was recomended http://www.fatbrain.co.uk the other day but nothing I seem to want to sell is worth over £1.24 to them.

I agree about selling them to secondhand bookshops - I got loads of cheap books at an auction, picked out the ones I wanted and sold the rest to a local bookshop for more than I paid for the whole lot.

(As for selling at auction, maybe not, I've seen crates of books go for £1).

I'm currently doing a summer clearout, and was looking for a decent website to buy my old books. I've got a lot, and like others here I can't be bothered with the hassle of selling on ebay or amazon.

Just compared 3 sites: Zapper, Momox and WeBuyBooks.co.uk
I tested on Steven Covey's 7 Habits book and rarer book about Shinto (Japanese traditional religion), here were my offers:

    000000000000 S. Covey 00000 Shinto book
    Zapper
    0000000£0.86 0000000000£1.83
    Momox 000000£0.82 0000000000£2.25
    WeBuyBooks 0£1.10 0000000000£3.22

Clearly WeBuyBooks is offering the best prices for my books. As a sidenote, WeBuyBooks also has the easiest website to use out of the 3 here (in my opinion).

Hi Brineybay, as well as the above 3 sites you mentioned it might be worth checking the Fatbrain site.

I sold a lot of textbooks i had recently and while comparing it with Momox and WeBuyBooks it gave me the best price.
