Firstplus PPI (1st Letter)

Options
I have taken peoples advice and decided to pursue claiming back the Firstplus PPI myself.

I am looking to send my first letter to Firstplus with reference to a loan (£47000 + £9387.03 PPI) taken in August 2005 which replaced a loan with them taken in 2003 (£26000 + £5100 PPI).

Firstly could someone explain if I understand this correctly ....

The PPI added to the loan was £9387.03 but the monthly PPI payments were intially £73.30. This over 60 months = £4380.

Secondly could someone take a look at my draft letter and advise of any changes / mistakes.

I am writing in relation to the above payment protection (PPI) polices which I believe was miss-sold to me.

I believe you have not treated me fairly for the following reasons;
  • I was not informed that my disability / back / shoulder / arm problems were excluded from the insurance.
  • I fully informed your staff about my RAF medical discharge and disability pension. However I was not warned / advised that due to my injuries I possibly would have not been eligible for cover due to existing medical conditions
  • I was not asked whether I already had any existing insurance or employer benefits that would cover my repayments.
Unless you can prove that the policy was fair and reasonable and that I was treated fairly when I was sold the insurance, I demand a full refund of all premiums, and subsequent interest on these payments, that I have paid in relation to this policy. I also expect 8% interest to be added to each payment I have made as this is the statutory amount a court would pay.

I look forward to your full and prompt response to this letter. If this matter is not settled within 42 days of the date of this letter I shall be contacting the Financial Ombudsman to investigate my complaint.

Yours faithfully.

    That letter looks fine to me and I would send that off recorded delivery and let us know what they reply.
