Are any grants available for replacing back boilers to combi boilers?

My friends' boiler has just blown and the plumber has advised a full replacement of the boiler. The plumber doesn't fit combi boilers, so she feels confident that the recommendation is genuine as there isn't a buck to be made for him advising this.

However, she is really strapped for cash. Does anyone know if any grants are available for this sort of work?

Thanks

Have a look here to see if she qualifies http://www.eaga.com/
The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.

I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.

check with your local council as mine has fit a FREE new combi in for everybody in my area (within encatchment) whose boiler is older than 5 yrs old because the government is trying to prevent being fined for pollution levels etc it is currently a regeneration area they have done lots of work (i live in private house with mortgage) so ring up and ask saying youve heard about schemes in other areas are they running any in yours.
hope this helps it is worth a try! :j

We are getting a new boiler in a few weeks. A friend down the road who I told her about it, shes only in receipt of council tax rebate, gets a full heating system, storage heaters. They wont pay for central heating.

I am getting a condensing boiler.

our scheme isnt to do with any benefits we pay full council tax and my husband works full time etc, it is a regeneration project, some people have had new radiators as well but ours were still ok, also if we hadnt got gas fire in each room they would have fitted a new ones (the new ones were lovely too), they have also provided new walls, gates front and back and some roads (not mine) have got new windows and doors and reroofing),also everyone was given free cavity wall and loft insulation, the houses are various types can be private, rented, council that doesnt matter it is to do with a government fund to get the area energy efficient so i think it is worthwhile everybody ringing their council to see what is on offer. :j
