One cold radiator

I have one upstairs radiator that is stone cold. Tried the usual bleeding but makes no difference. All other upstairs radiators work OK. Any ideas?

Thanks

Steve

This happen to me but I'm with the housing association so I call them out, but the plumber said the valve (the opposite end to one with the numbers) gets stuck and all he did was tap it with a hammer. It's worked fine since.
Sorry it's not a great answer but I thought it might help.

Have you ruled out a stuck thermostatic valve (TRV) if you have them? Just google it, there is plenty info out there.

There may be sludge in the radiator. If thats the case it would need to be removed and flushed out. Are the feed pipes narrow guauge, ie 8mm or 10mm? If so they can get blocked with sludge more readily than 15mm.
  • we had the same problem - plumber told us it was a valve at the side (the knob with the numbers etc on) was gone - got a new one and works great now

  • Thanks for the replies. A tap with the hammer on the thermostatic valve did the trick. My son (whose room the cold radiator is in) asked me why I didn't fix it during the big freeze last week!
